This necklace immortalizes the words Ida Straus was heard telling her husband after stepping out of the lifeboat to stay with him, "We have been together many years. Where you go, I go." Both died as they had lived, with dignity, honor, loyalty to one another, and compassion for others.
A beautiful blue gem glistens between two wings. The 3/4 inch pendant and 18 inch chain are rhodium plated in stunning silver tones.
The Straus's Titanic Story
On the night of the sinking, Isador and Ida Straus were standing near Liveboat Number 8 with Mrs. Straus's maid, Ellen Bird. The officer in charge of the lifeboat was willing to let the couple board the lifeboat together. Isidor Straus refused to leave while there were still women on children on board - the crew had been given the order to let women and children on the lifeboats first, and Isador insisted on honoring that chivalry.
Isidor urged his wife to go on without him, but she refused, saying, "We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go." She stepped back, handing her coat to her maid. Isidor and Ida were last seen standing arm in arm on the deck. Neither would survive, but their story and their love lives on in our hearts.
